I had my annual eye exam today. He dilated my eyes, and I feel like a cartoon character. :) Also... hooray for a cloudy day, I didn't have to wear those cheap paper sunglasses. My sight in my right eye was a little better then the year before. I was surprises by that. It must be all the carrot I've been eating. :P I got a new pair of spectacles. I should get them sometime next month. After trying on about 3 dozen pairs, I finally found a pair I like. Hooray!!!
I haven't crocheted anything today, but the day is not over!! I need to finish up my penguin, so I can add him to my shop sometime this week.
I also broken down and started the blanket last. After counting 240 chains, and counting many dc and dc2tog, I have one row completed!! This took me about 2 hours, but I think once I get the hang of the pattern, the rows will go by a lot faster.
I decided to wait until next week to start working on my blanket until next week. I'm really focused on the Christmas items.
I will be listing my first custom listing sometime next week. I'm going to have Christmas ornaments, 6 or 12 pack. You can choose the color combination!! I'm super excited about this idea. I was trying to wrap my brain around what colors people want, all red? all green? half and half? one of each color??? All the combos were making me dizzy. So hopefully this will work, and hopefully this is something someone wants to buy.
Right now I'm working on the Holiday penguin today. I have his head, beak, eyes, and feet finished. I'm about half done with the body. I'm going to try and finish it today, but I'm not sure. We'll see.
I'm not sure how much I will get done tonight. I have a hot date. Tomorrow is a special day for my husband and I. And since I have to work tomorrow, we are celebrating tonight. What is the "special day" you ask?? Well, to make it a short story, it's the day my husband and I became boyfriend and girlfriend. It was back in 1996, we were both in 7th grade, and we've been together ever since.* We've been together for 13 years and still going strong.* Justin, if your reading this.... I love you!!!*
*insert awwwwwwwww here
Okay, enough with the mushy stuff. It's time to get serious... were is my hook and yarn???
I made a discovery yesterday. I heard from an Etys Admin, that Christmas items should be added now... I was really surprised. I like to celebrate one holiday at a time. But I don't want to be left behind either. So this year I will experiment and add different holiday items together. I'm hoping this doesn't turn people away from my shop. This is my first holiday season on Etsy... not sure what to do... Stock up? Renew all items daily? Or keep doing what I'm doing?
Does anyone have any tips??
So I'm feeling a little behind. I just finished Santa last night. I'm going to work on a hoilday penguin next. I also have to make another apple set.
I'm still crocheting away on Santa. I now have this body, and 2 arms done! I'm working on leg #1!!! I'm hoping I can finish him today!! I have to finish his legs, hat and beard!!
I also finished my leg warmers last night. I really like how they turned out. I'm glad I changed the pattern a bit. They're really soft and warm. I'm probably going to make another pair for work, when I unload the trucks this winter. I think I'm going to need them!! I will post pictures soon. Maybe later today. If not, I will post them tomorrow. I promise!
First picture is a sneak peek of the snowman. The second picture doesn't look very Christmas-like, but it's the head of Santa. I'm working on his body now.
I can't believe I'm crocheting Santa right now... but Christmas will be here before you know it!!
Today I'm re-claiming my yarn stash. It's gotten the better of me these past couple of months. I have yarn upstairs, I have yarn in the living room, I have yarn in the bedroom, I have yarn in the closet. I need to get organized!!! I'm going to group up all my skeins and force them to be friends, and live in one container.... hmmmm.... maybe 2 containers. Or at least all in one room. I also have to cat proof it, that means containers with lids. I'm tired of trying to remember... "Where I put that green skein of yarn?" Upstairs? Closet? Bedroom? So I'm taking a break from Santa, and off organizing my yarn stash!! Wish me luck!!!
Also... Today is my Dad's Birthday!! Happy Birthday D!!!
So I'm enjoying my last relaxing day off before I have to work this weekend. I've been finishing up some projects. I finally finished my snowman. I was going to start working on a Santa, but time will not allow. Hopefully I can start working on Santa on Monday. I was going to start today, but when I start something, I want to finish it that day, or the following day... I feel like if I leave it sit for a week, I don't have the energy to go back to it. So it's easier for me to wait. I'm weird like that.
I'm hoping to finish up my leg warmers. I just finished up leg warmer #1 about a hour ago and I started working on #2. I'm hoping that I can work on it the weekend. In between my work shifts. If I can finish these up I can focus next week on CHRISTMAS!!! I really need to stop procrastinating, and get to work!!!
But I have another temptation... The blanket.... We will see how much I get done next week, then maybe on Wednesday or Thursday I will reward myself with starting the blanket. That sounds like a good idea to me!
Also..... my witch hats made it to the gift guides!!!! Check it out here!!! After I looked at the gift guides, I'm thinking it's a mistake.... well I could be wrong. It doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the items that are listed. Check it out and let me know what you think. Well, anyway, I'm getting a lot of hits on it!!!
I'm on cloud nine right now... I have no idea what I'm doing... but whatever it is it's working!!!
This is giving me some serious motivation!!!!! I'm off to crochet!!!
Blanket Leg warmers - X Christmas items Pears - X Apples - X Cat toys
I'm tackling my to-make-list. I finished up another set of apples and I just added them to the shop. I also finished another set of the pears. Hooray!!! I love making lists and crossing stuff out when it's done! And for the leg warmers, well I didn't finish them, but I'm halfway done with leg warmer #1! So I thought that counts for something! I started working on them last night while the hubby and I watched Arrested Development. I just discovered this show about a week ago and I love it. Too bad they canceled it. But with the help of hulu.com, we can watch old episodes. I don't have cable, or broadcast TV. This might come as a shock to most people. When I tell people this they say "Really?!?!" "I can't live without my tv/cable." As long as I have my crochet hooks and yarn, I will be okay. It's been about a year without tv, and I don't miss it. I get my TV fix from hulu.com and netflixs.
Anyway, I'm not starting the blanket until I finish the leg warmers. And I will start working on the Christmas items. I'm hoping that tomorrow I can finish the snowman.
So as you can see, I'm still crocheting up a storm!!!
So I have a busy week ahead of me. I have so many projects.
Here's the list:
Blanket Leg warmers Christmas items Pears Apples Cat toys
I'm working on making the pears. They work up pretty fast so I don't think I will have any problems finishing them up. Also I never got around to finishing my snowman. I have all of his bodies parts made. I just have to stuff him, and make his scarf.
I found a pattern for some leg warmers that I want to try out. Well... I changed the pattern a bit. Hopefully they turn out ok.
I also bought the rest of the yarn that I need to make the blanket.
phew.... it's going t be a busy week. Hopefully, my wrists and hands won't hurt... if they don't, they will at the end of the week!! I must remind myself to take breaks!!!
I have a question for my etsy peeps: Let's say my pears make it to the front page. I find on Etsy, a button that you can add to your listing that reads "This item made it to the front page". So I add the button. Later someone buys the pears. Then I decided I want to make another set of pears. I make another set, and I add them to my shop. The question is... Can I leave the "This item made it to the front page" button on the new listing of the pears??? Well hopefully that makes sense.
So I'm just relaxing today. I found out some things at work, and it's not going to be a pleasant weekend. Overnights, training newbies, and 775 piece truck with Christmas product on it. :( Boo. Or shall I say Bah humbug? I'm not feeling the greatest today either. I guess that's a good thing. I can rest up and get ready for a crazy weekend. I think tomorrow is going to be the worst day. Waking up at 4:30 AM, unload the truck, come home, nap, then go back to work at 9 PM. and working until 5AM. Days like this... I just want to quit. :/
Okay, enough complaining.
I started working on my Christmas items today. I'm making a snowman. I have his head, body and nose done!! I should have no problems finishing him up today. That is if I can pull myself away from the computer. :)
... and I'm don't have anything exciting to write about. :(
I'm working on another set of red, blue, and yellow hippos. I'm working on the last one, the yellow hippo. I have all his body parts made, ears, legs, and tail. Now I'm working on his body. I should be able to finish him up today.
I also made a list of Christmas items to make. I'm going to get start tomorrow, or this evening. Depending on when I finish the hippos. I want to start on my new projects, but I really need to finish my old/current projects. I guess it's a good thing. I'm having a hard time getting myself to crochet a snowman when it's 75 degrees outside and sunny.
Here's my list so far:
* Snowman * Santa * Reindeer/Rudolph * Holiday Penguin * Christmas Trees * Christmas Ornaments
Do you have any ideas??? Let me know!! I would love to hear what you come up with!!
3 skeins and counting... I need three more skeins of yarn then I will have all the yarn I need to make this:
But I guess that's a good thing. I don't need to start any new projects. Must finish current ones first!! But my hands are itching to crochet this blanket... But be strong!!! Must Resist!!!
Well I had an excellent weekend. Justin and I went to the beach on Sunday. It was wonderful. The water was freezing. I went in the water... but only knee deep. It was so cold it hurt. But it was nice to but my feet in the sand.
My hubby's feet
My feet (sorry for the blurry pics, camera phone)
Thinking about new projects. Thinking about Christmas items. Christmas will be here before I know it. I should get started....
I'm also thinking about a project to make for me. I found this pattern online at lionbrand.com. I already have enough blankets around the house, but I can't resist. This blanket is made out of 100% wool. This blanket is going to feel so nice this winter. The yarn is kind of expensive, but with the help of coupons it should be worth it. I have 2 coupons to use this week. I'm going to buy a couple of skeins this week, and get started. I can't wait!
New Halloween items continue through next week! I will be adding my last Halloween item on Wednesday 9/9!
So it's back to work tomorrow... bummer. I haven't really done any crocheting this week. I've been to busy with chores, and listing my Halloween items. I'm hoping to have Saturday night off. Hopefully this weekend I can get back to crocheting!! I have too many ideas floating around in my head!!
