Going on Vacation...soon...

With that said, there hasn't been a whole lot of crocheting going on around here. I'm trying to get caught up on cleaning, laundry, and errands before we hit the road.

I'm feeling a bit weird today, because I have to work tonight. I usually work Friday and Saturday nights... And for some funny reason it feels like a Sunday, even though the hubby is at work. My biological clock is way off... and it hasn't been right since I started working the overnight shifts.

I'm taking my hook and yarn with me while I'm on vacation. I'm not sure how much time I will have to work on things. My goal is to make one amigurumi creation. But we will see. I plan on doing a lot of reading, and hanging out with the in-law family. But I can always crochet and visit with them. I'm talented like that. :)

There won't be any TV's or computers where I will be going. I might go through blogger, facebook, and etsy, withdrawals... Not having TV's doesn't really matter to me... I have a TV, but no channels. It's used mostly for watching DVD's and for the hubby to play his video games.

I haven't worked on the crab since my little incident. I'm going to leave the crab at home, it's getting way to big to carry around. I might bring the pattern with me and see if I can re-write it.

Well my next blog might be on Wednesday (but don't hold me to that)... and that will probably be my last blog until July 13... maybe sooner... but don't hold me to that either. :)

See you all later!!!

I'm upset...

So it looks like Mr. Crab will have to rest for now.... Something is seriously wrong with the pattern... I'm trying to get a hold of someone from Crochet Today magazine so I can get the "correct" pattern. I'm having a problem with that too. I'm not sure if I will ever get the correct pattern.... The next issue of this magazine comes out in September....Maybe late August... I'm a little upset.... I really want to finish Mr. Crab...

All of the pieces to the crab are the right size, so I know it's not my gauge that the problem. But I knew something was wrong when I'm half way through two skeins of yarn and I'm not even 1/4 done with the pattern, and I still have another claw to make.

grr.... You would think that a crochet magazine would have testers... or something....

I just want to cry...

I can't believe I'm this upset over a crab crochet pattern. It's pathetic.

Update...

I'm still working hard on Mr. Crab. I just finished the last leg of eight yesterday. I 'm about half way done with arm number 1. I had some problems with it, but I finally figured it out. I can't wait to start putting him together!!

Also... I love this picture. It's one of my favorites... I'm turning into great little photographer if I say so myself... :) Go here to check it out.

So it's back to work tomorrow. I've had 12 days off in a row. It's been really nice. I don't feel like I accomplished much, but it's been nice to have some "me" time. For once I'm actually looking forward to going to work tomorrow, and this weekend. Even though I have this crazy, sleep depriving schedule. I miss my buddies!!!

Filling my head with words....

I started reading this book this afternoon. So far it's really good, but I'm only on the second chapter. Both of my local libraries don't carry any copies of this book, but I requested it through MelCat. I heart MelCat!!!!

Here's a little bit about the book from amazon.com:

"In an unnamed city in an unnamed country, a man sitting in his car waiting for a traffic light to change is suddenly struck blind. But instead of being plunged into darkness, this man sees everything white, as if he "were caught in a mist or had fallen into a milky sea." A Good Samaritan offers to drive him home (and later steals his car); his wife takes him by taxi to a nearby eye clinic where they are ushered past other patients into the doctor's office. Within a day the man's wife, the taxi driver, the doctor and his patients, and the car thief have all succumbed to blindness. As the epidemic spreads, the government panics and begins quarantining victims in an abandoned mental asylum--guarded by soldiers with orders to shoot anyone who tries to escape. So begins Portuguese author José Saramago's gripping story of humanity under siege, written with a dearth of paragraphs, limited punctuation, and embedded dialogue minus either quotation marks or attribution. At first this may seem challenging, but the style actually contributes to the narrative's building tension, and to the reader's involvement."

If it sounds interesting go check it out at your local library or visit your favorite bookstore!!

I'm also crocheting of course. Right now I'm working on a crocheted cup of coffee!! I should have no problems finishing it today.

Also, waiting for ups to come to the house and deliver my YARN!!!

The last three pictures are of my cat, Chester meeting Pinchy for the first time. I'm hoping he won't be to scared of it when he's finished. We'll have to wait and see when I put the eyes on.

A crab named Pinchy...

Crab Update:

So here is what the crab looks like at the moment. As you can see it's almost the size of the couch cushion.... and I'm not done yet!!! I have about 6 more rows to left!! Right now it measure 20 inches. The final measurement should be 24 inches. This is the top part of the body. After I finish this piece I have to make another one, but instead of red, I will use orange yarn.

Awesome....

I was crocheting my giant crab this afternoon, finished the current row I was on. And decided to take a power nap... well my power nap ended up being 2 hours... oops... I guess I was really tired. So then I decided to get on the computer and check my email and stuff...and.. I sold 2 items!!! While I was sleeping someone bought 2 of my items!! How cool is that!!! Maybe I should take naps more often. :)

These 2 items are going to.... The NETHERLANDS!!!

I will post picture of the crab in progress soon... I have the top part of his body half done. The rows(rounds) are getting taking a lot longer to do as it gets bigger. The crabs body is 24 inches long. I'm going to work on this crab in between items for my shop. So it might take a few months before I finish it.

Well I'm off to find some yarn and a crochet hook...

Next Project...

I found this pattern in my Crochet Today magazine, July/August issue. I thought this was really cool... I just have to make it. I'm not going to sell this in my Etsy shop... This is for me... and possibly my cats. I'm going to get some yarn today. Hopefully they have it. So I'm going to be crocheting this afternoon, while the Hubby plays Legend of Zelda -Twilight Princess (for the Wii). It's going to be a great afternoon.
